The advert – commissioned by personal injury and medical negligence specialists Neil Hudgell Solicitors – tells the moving and emotional stories of three of the company’s clients and brings them alive through individual interviews.

As well as being broadcast on television, the campaign has also been used on a variety of media platforms including the company’s website and a range of social media sites.

Now the campaign – produced by Yorkshire-based Classlane Media – has received the prestigious Multi-Platform Production Award in the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Awards held yesterday evening (June 11) in Leeds.

It’s believed to be the first time an advert and videos created for a law firm has won the award.

Managing Director Neil Hudgell comments: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won this award.

“We wanted to do something a bit different with this advert and asked our clients Jo, Keith and Susan to speak for themselves and for us.

“We’re very grateful to them for taking part in the advert and the other videos and we’re extremely pleased that members of the Royal Television Society have now recognised our efforts and honoured us in this way.”

Clients featured in the campaign, talking about their experiences and how Neil Hudgell Solicitors helped them secure compensation claims, include Jo Roche from Bridlington, Keith Daddy from Hull and Susan Reader from Selby.

Dave Beasley, Managing Director of Classlane Media, said: “This is a forward thinking way of getting ’honest, real life’ stories out to the public, utilising TV, web, mobile devices and social media engagement.

“The traditional TV ad was supported by the extended stories that were hosted within the website so allowing people to really understand the full story behind each case.”

Jo Roche suffered life-changing injuries when she was operated on by Dr El-Barghouty at Scarborough District General Hospital on 31 January, 2008.

Dr El-Barghouty carried out a routine operation on Jo to remove her thyroid gland but he severely damaged nerves linked to her vocal cords.

She was left barely able to speak, and the damage led to blockages in her airway. Six months later, after suffering severe breathing difficulties, she had to undergo a complete tracheostomy to fit a tube through her neck and into her windpipe to allow her to breathe properly.

53-year-old Keith was cycling along Hessle Road when the driver of a parked car opened her door, knocking him onto the road. He suffered multiple injuries – several broken ribs and collar bone – and, despite wearing a crash helmet, injuries to his head.

Susan Reader gained compensation after the NHS admitted liability for failing to inform her that she had a fracture to her little toe and failing to instigate treatment.    There was a two month delay in diagnosis and Mrs Reader has on-going pain attributable to the delay and is likely to have continued minor discomfort.

Neil Hudgell Solicitors specialises in claims for personal injury and medical negligence and serves the UK from offices in Hull and Leeds.  This year the firm is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

The Royal Television Society stated that this year the standard of entries had been exceptionally high and has given the judging panel a

challenging job.  The Awards recognise and celebrate high quality television and digital media production and the excellence of production and technical crews across the Yorkshire region.

The Annual RTS Yorkshire Programme Awards Dinner 2012, attended by a star-studded cast of TV personalities of stage and screen, was held on Monday (11 June) in Leeds and was presented by Steve Huison who has appeared on The Full Monty and Coronation Street.
